Huston, are you reading me? Cat gets her claws out for ex-boyfriend Jack

Cat Deeley has warned other women to get out of bad relationships in an apparent swipe at her former boyfriend Jack Huston.

The 34-year-old TV presenter split with actor Huston, 28, nearly a year ago, citing "work commitments".

But in a new interview with Red magazine, Deeley said: "I'm really happy being single at the moment. You are so much better off on your own than with the wrong person.

"I'd say to any woman, get out of the bad relationship that's turning you into a shell of your former self.

"Learn from it, and get out. Then wait: enjoy yourself and your friends because, when what you want comes along, you'll spot it."

Huston was said to have ended the relationship and reportedly "loves the adoration" of female fans.

Deeley said: "For me, I would like somebody who is kind. A grown-up, basically, would be amazing. I used to say I wanted somebody funny and intelligent, but kindness is the most important quality in a man. And the last proviso - I can't bear someone who is vain."

Former SMTV presenter Deeley, from Birmingham, moved to Los Angeles in 2006 and is the host of So You Think You Can Dance on American TV.

But she admitted: "Nothing can be rushed. Not career. Not friendship. Not relationships. It's taken five years in LA doing So You Think You Can Dance for me to stop thinking that they are going to find me out, tell me I can't do it and kick my arse back to England. Cut to season eight of the show and I finally feel that I can re-do the house. It's the same with friendships. I really miss my friends from home because deeper levels of friendship develop with time."

The former model also spoke of the pressures of trying to stay thin in LA. "If you want to lose weight, you have to eat less and move more. It's that basic," she said.

"So, if I fancy some chocolate, I'll have some - just not the whole bar. I do some form of exercise every day, even if it's just walking Lily [the dog]."
