But at least his fiancee, Coleen McLoughlin, will still be bringing home the bacon it appears she has her pen poised to sign a five-novel book deal.
Fans of the 21-year-old Liverpudlian have already had the chance to read all about her life in her autobiography, 'Welcome to my World', which was published in March, the first of a £2 million two-book deal she signed with HarperCollins.

In the money: Coleen McLoughlin, seen at Vogue's book launch earlier this week, is reported to have signed a five-novel book deal with publishers HarperCollins
Now the publishing house is forking out an unknown sum for Coleen to set her imagination to work.
HarperCollins clearly sees a great future ahead for Rooney and McLoughlin, having also shelled out a whopping £5 million to Rooney for a five-book autobiography, which broke records as the largest sports book deal in history.
McLoughlin's publicity man Ian Monk refuses to confirm the details of the deal but when asked concedes there is "definitely something in the pipeline".
The move into fiction by the Wag sorority will no doubt have been inspired by Katie Price, aka Jordan, who last year enjoyed huge commercial success with her first novel, 'Angel', which sold 300,000 copies in six weeks.
That was followed by 'Crystal' this summer, which shot to the top of the bestseller list, selling 159,000 copies.
Anne Enright's The Gathering had only sold 3,500 copies prior to its Booker Prize success.
Some unkind literary types are wondering whether Coleen has actually read five novels, let alone whether she could write them.
Wayne claims to have read "a few of the Harry Potter books" but when asked what was on Coleen's bedside table he replied: "The phone."
