Injured extras who 'fell off truck' on Tom Cruise's 'jinxed' war movie sue for £6m

Prolonged: Tom Cruise as Claus von Stauffenberg in trouble-dogged Second World War film Valkyrie

Tom Cruise's trouble-dogged Second World War movie Valkyrie has been hit with a £6million lawsuit launched by injured extras.

The 11 men claim they were wounded during filming in Berlin last year, when the side panel of a military truck in which they were travelling gave way, spilling them on to the set.

The project, backed by United Studios with a huge investment from Cruise, now faces further delays, having initially been scheduled for release this year.

The extras were treated for bruises, broken ribs and pulled ligaments.

Their lawyer, Ariane Bluttner, alleges that United Studios knew the trucks used in filming the scenes were not entirely safe.

The movie features Cruise as Claus von Stauffenberg, leader of the failed 1944 plot to assassinate Hitler.

It has been dogged by problems, including the accidental destruction of film in a developers' lab, which meant key scenes had to be reshot.

Now the earliest it might be seen in cinemas is February.
