Inspector Morse has found a new home on the net. The show is part of a roster of classic ITV programmes including On the Buses and Rising Damp, that are to be made available for online viewing, the broadcaster has confirmed.
The shows will be offered on the 'Catch Up' section of ITV.com for up to 30 days after they've aired on the digital TV channel ITV3.
Classic television: Fans of Inspector Morse will be able to see the series, starring Kevin Whatley (left) and John Thaw on the net
'The rapid growth in video consumption shows that the appetite for content is there. We will continue to respond with new developments in the months to come.'
Other programmes available to watch on Catch Up will include Kavanagh QC, Cadfael, Upstairs, Downstairs, Dempsey and Makepeace, Heartbeat, Taggart, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Wycliffe.
'This is a brilliant achievement and gives fans of some of ITV's biggest and best shows even more reason to go to ITV.com,' said Marc Webber, head of content at ITV.com.
ITV's portfolio of websites have seen a massive 362 per cent increase in video footage since ITV.com was launched last August. ITV.com, including ITV Local, has received more than 69 million video views.
Oh, Ms Jones: Classic ITV comedies such as Rising Damp, which starred Frances de la Tour, Leonard Rossiter and Don Warrington, are also to be made available
I'll get you, Butler: ITV's online offering will include long-running shows such as the vintage comedy On The Buses
