Is John Travolta finally facing up to the bald truth?

There comes a point in every man's life when he is forced to start being honest about his retreating hairline.

For John Travolta, that moment has been a long time coming.

But at last, it seems the actor has given up covering up his balding head with what has always been assumed to be an elaborate weave.

At 54, the Saturday Night Fever star has relaxed into an altogether more natural look.

Pictured at a showbusiness party in New York, his hair looked very different compared with photos of him taken last year when he was promoting his film Hairspray.

Then, he sported a magnificent dark mane worthy of a man in his twenties. At the time, one cheeky commentator called the look 'unbe-weave-able'.

Others noted how the actor's hair had gone from full and floppy to close-cropped and back again during public appearances only days apart.

Travolta's new hairstyle was not the only change in his appearance at the party. He also showed off a delicately trimmed moustache.
