Jade asked mother to smother her with pillow
22 April 2009
The reality TV star died aged 27 on March 22 after a battle with cervical cancer, and spent her final weeks being nursed at home by her husband Jack Tweed and mother Jackiey Budden.
Ms Budden told OK! magazine watching the life slowly ebb from her daughter was "heartbreaking".
"We watched her slowly disintegrate," she said, "it was more heartbreaking than just seeing someone die.
"She wasn't in any pain, but it's horrible for the people around it."
As she was dying, Ms Budden said, Goody asked her to help her end her life.
"If she was on a machine we'd have to turn it off, but when you've got cancer you don't have a machine. She wanted me to put a pillow over her head," she told OK!.
"I really didn't want to see her go that way."
Appearing on ITV's This Morning show today, Ms Budden said she was planning a holiday with close friends to recover after the trauma of her daughter's illness and death.
"I'm not going away to get drunk or anything like that, I'm just going to chill out," she said.
"I might have one cocktail on the beach, but I'm taking a gay friend of mine who is in remission at the moment and he knew Jade since she was a baby so she'd love me to take him. She'd always say, 'Mum, look after him', so I'm going to do that. He had been there for us and he makes me laugh."
The full interview appears in this week's edition of OK! magazine, on sale now.
