Former Neighbours star Jason Donovan has revealed new details of the night he collapsed after a drug binge at a party thrown for supermodel Kate Moss.

The 80s pin-up, who recently starred in I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here, says his efforts to keep up with the "big boys" during a night at infamous LA club Viper Room almost ended in tragedy.

At the star-studded party, organised by Johnny Depp in honour of Moss' 21st birthday in January 1995, Donovan recalls joining a host of high profile guests including INXS frontman Michael Hutchence and Helena Christensen.

Donovan writes in Between The Lines: My Story Uncut: "Then [I saw] Johnny Depp and Kate, two of the most beautiful people of their generation."

Through out the night, Donovan routinely returned to his nearby hotel room to snort lines of cocaine, later collapsing while Hutchence was performing Van Morrison's Gloria, accompanied by Depp on guitar.

Donovan writes: "By midnight the party had hit the dance floor, but I knew I was about to go.

"My heart was racing, my vision was blurring and I was becoming disorientated. I tried to steady myself but my legs buckled under me and I fell to the floor.

"A crowd had circled round me and Michael was standing over me trying to empty my trouser pockets.

"'Have you got anything on you?' he kept asking me. I tried to speak but couldn't.

"'It wouldn't be cool if anything was found on you by the medics'," he whispered."

Donovan continues: "The next memory I have is of being carried out of the club by paramedics on a stretcher.

He was treated at LA's Cedars-Sinai hospital, but discharged himself after just three hours and returned to the model's after-party to apologise.

After knocking on their hotel room door, Donovan recalls telling Depp he was "really sorry" about the incident.

According to Donovan, Depp recommended he "take it easy in future."

While Donovan continued using cocaine, he eventually vowed to turn his life around.

He writes: "There was nothing rock 'n' roll about me. I was a little kid from Melbourne, the boy from Neighbours, Jason Donovan with his cheesy hits and his teen fans, Joseph with his Technicolor Dreamcoat."
