But that doesn't mean Jemima Khan will turn up her nose at secondhand goods.
For a pre-Baftas party on Saturday night, the 34-year-old socialite recycled an outfit her friend had worn the evening before.

My turn: Jemima wears it on Saturday - but her friend wore the dress on Friday night
Miss Khan must have taken a shine to the striking emerald cocktail dress while out with the wearer at another pre-Baftas event at Cecconi's restaurant in London.
At the time, she was wearing a demure black dress with a grey slouch necked top.
Luckily, the frock fitted the mother-of-two's slender frame like a glove, even though she is a little taller than its blonde owner.
She wore it to Saturday night's party at Mark's Club in the capital, just changing the shoes for a slightly different look.

Green with envy? Miss Khan's friend wore the dress on Friday
Jemima Khan liked her friend's green dress so much that she took it and wore it the very next evening
The ex-wife of cricketer Imran Khan was obviously - and refreshingly - unconcerned about what the fashion pack would say.
Then again, she might simply have more weighty issues to deal with than buying a new outfit.
There has been speculation recently that she has rekindled her romance with former lover Hugh Grant.
The pair met discreetly last week in Paris, the capital of romance, where they were both staying on business. Miss Khan was filming a campaign for perfume house Azzaro while Grant was meeting with directors.
These rumours might have caused problems with her current boyfriend Ben Elliot, the founder of the global concierge business Quintessentially, with whom she has enjoyed intimate dinner dates.
She has also been involved in a spot of political protesting. Miss Khan and her exhusband picketed Downing Street recently to protest at Gordon Brown's talks with Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf.

Back together: Hugh Grant and Jemima Khan arriving for the pre-Bafta party at Cecconi's restaurant in Piccadilly on Friday
Just weeks ago the Four Weddings And A Funeral actor was photographed leaving 34-year-old Jemima's townhouse in Chelsea, although the heiress has insisted they are just friends.
Hugh was pictured with a group of university students a few months ago. He said he 'lost his way' without Jemima
And their latest meeting suggests the on-off relationship could be back on.
"Jemima was in Paris for work and, coincidentally, Hugh was there to meet a French film director," I am told.
"They met up but Jemima insists she stayed at her hotel alone."
Last night another friend of the couple said Grant, 47, who has seemingly been enjoying his bachelor lifestyle and was recently photographed drunkenly kissing a group of students, is desperate to win Jemima back.
"Hugh's said that he really messed up with Jemima.
"He has spent months regretting their break-up. At the time he didn't want stability and marriage but now he is sure that is what he wants, and he wants it with Jemima."
"Jemima has been having fun but she never really got over the split with Hugh," says the friend. "She wants to marry and settle down."
The couple have remained close since their break-up and have been photographed having lunch together in Chelsea several times in recent months.
Regrets: According to friends, Hugh has been desperate to get back together with Jemima since they broke up last year
