'Jennifer Lopez IS pregnant,' confirms designer Roberto Cavalli

Close friend Roberto Cavalli, who is privy to her rapidly changing figure, has let slip that the star is expecting her first child - and he knew so because he has constantly had to alter her gowns to accommodate her burgeoning shape.

Cavalli complained that each week the singer, who is thought to be almost four months pregnant, gets larger forcing him to change his designs for her touring costumes.

He admitted in an off-guard moment: "Well Jennifer Lopez, at this moment, she requests something very special because she is waiting for the baby.

"It is so complicated because every week she is getting bigger," he added, speaking to US magazine People.

Cavalli, who will be responsible for creating the costumes for the upcoming Spice Girls reunion tour, has designed multiple loose-fitting and flowing outfits for the 38-year-old singer, who is touring with Puerto-Rican husband Marc Anthony, 39.

He explained: "The thing about Jennifer Lopez, she is a singer, she is a dancer. Most of the time when I prepare something for the tour, the performer, they want something very soft so they can dance and so they can move free."

Three weeks ago whispers of pregnancy gathered momentum after a wind machine blew up the performer's flimsy top on stage revealing a distinctly rounded stomach - in place of her usually toned midriff.

At one point she appeared to hold her stomach protectively during the Connecticut stage show as the Roberto Cavalli halter top and skin-tight trousers failed to conceal her voluptuous figure.

The singer, who is notoriously hard-working, has also planned a three-month break in her hectic schedule in spring. Despite this Lopez has refused to officially announce a pregnancy.

Earlier this month, Anthony raised eyebrows during the couple's show in Los Angeles when he sang a special dedication to his wife which included the lyrics, "They say that the road ain't no place to start a family ..."

Suspicions were first raised in September when audience members at Lopez's Sweet Face fashion show in New York Fashion Week detected a small bump as the designer walked down the runway at the end of her show wearing a baggy green dress from the label.

She has spoken previously of her desire for a family and the couple have experimented with fertility treatments over the past two years. Her husband has three children from previous relationships.

A spokesman for Lopez declined to make any comment.
