Potty-mouth: Comedienne Joan Rivers unleashed a foulmouthed tirade swearing 13 times in seven minutes in front of the Queen at the 79th Royal Variety performance

The crude tirade continued when Joan remarked about her own body: "When I walk along I can kick my own breasts because they're so low."

Apparently comedienne Joan was desperate not to swear, but could not help overstepping the mark.

And at one point she said: "My body is so f***ing..." before clamping her hand over her mouth to prevent any more profanities from slipping out.

Brave face: The Queen managed to hide her dismay and Rivers said Prince Philip thought it was very 'funny'

Asked afterwards about the Royal couple's reaction during their on-stage introductions, she said: "I felt like Nelson against the French, I did something very good for England.

"Philip was very charming and thought it was very funny."

Rivers joined Russell Brand whose performance also drew criticism for his risqué jokes about the Queens granddaughter, Zara Phillips.

He stunned some audience members with his comments about wanting to date Zara Philips and introducing himself as "shagger of the year."

The event at Liverpool's Empire Theatre will be broadcast on ITV1 this Sunday at 8pm.
