Justin Timberlake in talks to come down to Live Earth

Old pop will meet new pop at the weekend when Justin Timberlake joins Duran Duran on stage at Live Earth in a surprise performance.

The SexyBack singer and producer Timbaland are planning to make an appearance during the Eighties band's set at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon, according to The Sun newspaper.

The singer performed last night at London's 02 Arena

They are expected to perform Nite Runner, which Justin and Timbaland recorded earlier this year for Duran Duran's new album, Red Carpet Massacre. Justin, who is touring the UK, will then hotfoot it across London for his own concert at the O2 Arena.

The singer's management denied that he will make an appearance, but he is a huge fan of Duran Duran and insiders said he jumped at the chance to perform live with them at the concert.

A source close to Timbaland said: "They have something special up their sleeve for the fans at Wembley. They are juggling the schedules to make it happen."

Last-minute preparations are under way across the world for Saturday's event, when 150 leading acts, including Madonna, Snow Patrol and The Police come together to raise awareness of global warming.

Meanwhile, a judge has cancelled the Live Earth concert in Rio because he said there were not enough police to guarantee crowd safety.
