Kate Middleton's disappearing curves

A figure-hugging blue jersey dress slashed to the waist reveals just how thin Kate Middleton has become.

Prince William's on-off girlfriend - always admired for her slender but athletic figure - has put her sudden weight-loss down to the training she is doing for a charity boat race across the Channel in August - rather than her split with the second in line to the throne.

But passers-by who saw her walking through Chelsea on Thursday evening were taken aback by her painfully thin appearance and bony, almost concave, chest.

It suggests the turmoil of her relationship with the 25-year-old prince may have something to do with it, after all.

William is in two minds over whether he and his ex should attend the Concert for Diana together.

Even though the future king invited her to meet him at Clarence House last month to discuss whether to give their romance another go and has invited her join him in the Royal Box at Wembley, he is 'absolutely torn' about their future.

"He is feeling a lot of pressure at the moment and seems to be clinging on Kate, even though he was very much in the driving seat when they decided to split," said a friend.

"It is very difficult for William to get close to girls he can really trust. It's a case of better the devil you know, I suppose, and Kate is the first girl he has ever come close to being serious with."

According to the friend, William is quite keen to get married sooner rather than later, even though he once insisted he didn't want to settle down until he was 'at least 28'.

"That's why he is dithering so much over Kate. He isn't sure whether it is her he wants - or just someone special in his life," the friend said.

"Harry thinks his brother is mad to even think of rekindling his relationship with Kate - or 'go dogging back to her' as he so charmingly puts it.

"He thinks William should just draw a line under the past and that inviting Kate to the concert tomorrow is just going to create more headlines and take attention away from why they are there - to celebrate their mother's life."
