Holiday battle: Jamie Hince and Kate Moss
Jamie flew out to the luxury islands to meet Kate after touring in Australia with The Kills, and wanted some quality time with the supermodel.
Kate was already there and had brought along pal Fran so their two daughters could play together.
She had spent tens of thousands on the no-expense-spared trip to spa resort Hevefan Fushi.
A source said: "Fran's daughter Mercy gets along really well with Kate's daughter Lila Grace. Those four had been hanging out before Jamie came, so his arrival upset the dynamic."
Ironically, Kate had not been allowed to join Jamie's band The Kills on their tour Down Under — as bandmate Alison Mosshart didn't want the model ruining the dynamic of the band.
Our source added: "Fran was suggesting the three of them hang out, but that's not what Jamie wanted. He hadn't seen Kate for weeks as he had been on tour in Australia and New Zealand. He was pretty exhausted and just wanted some quality time with her.
"It was a case of three's a crowd, and there were arguments. No-one wanted to upset each other but soon the tension grew to be unbearable, with Kate acting as a go-between.
"She eventually gave up and ended up cutting the holiday short, returning to London.
"It was a tricky one for Kate as Fran is a long-term friend and she didn't want to upset her.
"At the same time, she was desperate to see Jamie. In the end she thought the only way to resolve the situation was to end the holiday."
This latest episode is bound to put a strain on their already mercurial relationship.
