Denny produced Procol Harum's Whiter Shade of Pale and worked with Joe Cocker and Tom Petty for his Shelter Records label.

Tarka was born in Argentina and moved to the United Kingdom at a young age. He and his older brother Barney were educated at Harrow School.

He began his career as a Hollywood screenwriter but later launched his own music career with the record Bimbo in a Limo, released with the help of Barney.

It was at this time he dated Kate Moss while she was on the rebound from actor Johnny Depp.

He was also romantically linked to actress Liv Tyler.

Barney confirmed his troubled sibling had committed suicide after returning from a trip to India.
