Kirsten Dunst is no fashion hero

Wardrobe SOS! Actress Kirsten Dunst needed a superhero rescue from a major fashion faux pas at the world premiere of Spider-Man 3 in Tokyo.

Looking more like curtains than cutting edge couture, Dunst's light peach gown proved incredibly unflattering on her petite frame.

With layers of material billowing around her middle, the outfit was a definite downgrade from the classic black outfit she wore to the earlier installment of the Spider-Man franchise in 2004.

The 24-year-old starlet now favours a more quirky look, that in this instance, looks set to resign her to the worst dressed list.

While the star was making a statement - of sorts - with an oversized rose pinned oddly to the back of her dress, one accessory was notably absent.

Her recent love interest, Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell was a no show, leaving Dunst to walk the red carpet solo.

The pair have been spotted keeping company in both London and LA since last month.

In the latest web covered action movie, Dunst again reprises her role as Mary-Jane Watson, the love interest of Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, played by Tobey Maguire.
