Kylie in a flood of tears as film captures her year of heartbreak and triumph

It was an emotional occasion which capped off a roller coaster year of heartbreak and triumph for Kylie Minogue - and it showed.

The singer burst into floods of tears at the world premiere of her docu-movie White Diamond in London's Leicester Square.

Her "gay husband" William Baker and little sister Dannii also shed tears as they watched Kylie's battle back from breast cancer up on the big screen for the first time.

The movie lasted nearly two hours, during which Kylie sat at the back of the cinema either laughing out loud or sobbing.

Afterwards the star, wearing a Dolce & Gabbana satin cream gown sprinkled with £500,000 of Swarovski crystals, said: "I didn't know if I'd make it through that screening, it was very emotional making the documentary and even more so watching it."

Dannii added: "I'm so proud of her. I'm so happy she's able to work again — it makes her who she is."

The documentary follows Kylie's emotional comeback after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005.

But the singer revealed she took a lot of persuading to do the film, adding: "It wasn't my idea, it was William Baker's. I canned it five times before this. I was hoodwinked basically because I really tried to get out of it. But he said, 'This is who you are and we all love you for who you are'.

Welcoming party: Kylie's smile was as dazzling as her dress for the crowds outside the Vue cinema in Leicester Square last night

"There was a time when I'd been stripped of everything and depended on nothing, and I felt like I had everything in terms of love and support, and I think that had a lot to do with me agreeing to this."

Kylie was overwhelmed with the thousands of people who came out in the rain last night to see her. She told us: "I said to Willie in the car, 'What if there are only six people here', but I'm overwhelmed.

"These people have been so patient, not just tonight but for a long time and they've given me a lot of support on my road to recovery."

The pop princess also revealed she is single and looking for love again.

She joked: "There's always a call to the office saying, 'Who's she with? And my manager's like, 'Are you sure you're not with anyone?', and I'm like, 'No but if you can get me someone that'd be great'."

Kylie and Dannii, who also says she is looking for a man, held a private party at Movida after the premiere. Kylie ordered 100 white roses and 100 white lilies for the occasion.

White Diamond will have a limited screening run at selected Vue cinemas before being released on DVD.
