Leslie Ash finds time to party as she battles against superbug

Ash still suffers the effects of MSSA

She may rely on a walking stick to help her get around, but iron-willed Leslie Ash wont let it stop her attending a great party.

The former actress, who contracted the potentially fatal virus MSSA in 2004, made a brave appearance with her husband, ex footballer Lee Chapman at London's Camden Lock Tavern for an Ibiza Rocks event.

The couple spent the night watching a host of performances, including a set by DJ Zane Lowe.

Ash, best known for her role in Men Behaving Badly and collagen enhanced lips - caught the dangerous bug while being treated in hospital for injuries, including a collapsed lung and broken rib, caused by "energetic sex" with her husband.

At the time, Ash went on record to defend Chapman against claims the injuries were a result of domestic violence, and insisted he was "not a wife-beater".

Police had initially arrested Chapman after the incident, which took place at the couple's home in London's Chelsea, but he was later released without charge.

Ash has fought a long battle against the virus, which attacks the nervous system.

In its early stage, MSSA temporarily left the star with no feeling below the waist, and she continues to suffer from its effects.

Earlier this year, the mother-of-two launched legal action against the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, seeking £1 million in compensation.
