Lindsay Lohan has turned herself into police to be formally arrested
Accompanied by her attorney, the 21-year-old actress surrendered at the Beverly Hills Police Department shortly after 4 pm yesterday to be fingerprinted and photographed, Officer Brian Ballieweg said.
Lohan's blood-alcohol level at the time of the crash was above .08, California's legal limit, said Ballieweg.
Police had discovered "a usable amount" of cocaine in Lohan's car on the night of the crash and tests later revealed she had the substance and nearly twice the legal amount of alcohol in her system, according to American magazine People.
She is also under arrest on suspicion of misdemeanor hit and run, he said.
The Mean Girls star, who was cited at the time of the crash, has been released on US$30,000 bail and a court date was scheduled for August 24.
A message left early Friday with her publicist was not immediately returned.
Lohan and two other adults were in her 2005 Mercedes SL-65 convertible when she lost control and crashed into a curb and shrubs on Sunset Boulevard on May 26, police said.
She got into a second car and was driven to a hospital in nearby Century City for treatment of minor injuries, police said. The other people in her car were not hurt.
Officers received a 911 call about the accident and traced her to the hospital.
Last week, Lohan checked out of a rehabilitation center after a stay of more than six weeks, and continues to wear an alcohol-detection bracelet on her ankle.
The Hollywood It girl quickly returned to the party scene, visiting a Las Vegas nightclub the day after checking out of the facility.
