Lindsay Lohan goes blonde...and ends up looking like her mother

Lindsay Lohan has reached for the bleach bottle, and gone for a blonde new look. But instead of looking young and fresh, she looks more like her 44-year-old mother Dina.

The fading starlet is struggling to resurrect her career following spells in rehab, and legal woes after crashing her car while driving under the influence.

She may have hoped a new look would give her an edge, but it has only succeeded in making her looking uncannily like her former manager, and less than youthful.

Lindsay swapped her trademark flowing red locks for the honey blonde do, which she revealed as she met up with friend Samantha Ronson on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles.

And it seems that the hairdo is not all Lindsay and her mother have in common.

Red-head: The flame-haired starlet has struggled to get her career back on track

In an interview with the US edition of Harper's Bazaar, mother Dina said she's more like a sister to daughter Lindsay - going out to clubs with her and even wearing her old Prada jacket and Jimmy Choo boots.

She said: "If you can button it and clip it when you're in your 40s, you're going out".

Dina said she sometimes introduces herself as her daughter's personal assistant. and once lied about her identity to George Clooney.

"I don't want them to know I'm her mom...It's a whole 'nother demographic. People just go dark."

Lindsay, 21, recently defended her hard-partying, rehab-hopping past, to declare: "I am what I am."

"I had a lot going on in my life and that was a way of hiding from it. I hadn't seen my dad...I had a lot of work stress 'cause I was constantly working and never took time to stop."

The daughter and her father have been reunited during her time in rehab, but he has revealed he isn't too happy about her latest film choice.

Lindsay has signed on to star in Manson Girls, to play one of the notorious murderer's cult followers.

Michael told Usmagazine.com: "I really hope that Lindsay gets back to the kinds of films that led to her success. I'd like to see her do more mainstream films."

Lindsay has starred in a string of films — including I Know Who Killed Me and Bobby — which have bombed at the box office.

Chapter 27 — her latest film opens this weekend — and centres on the assassination of John Lennon.

Following her stint in rehab, Lindsay is focused on getting her career back on track.

She said: "I was so used to working and working and working, and for a good few months there was nothing for me to do. "Now I know what it's like to be an out-of-work actor, and how much it scares me."
