Living dolls Girls Aloud hit the small screen

Girls Aloud can sing and dance, but they've swapped all that action to play plastic mannequins in a new television commercial.

The girls made rather eye-catching window dressing in tiny mini skirts, high heels and busty tops.

The ad is part of the band's £4 million deal with hair care company Sunsilk.

Sarah Harding looks radiant in yellow

The girls - Nadine Coyle, 21, Cheryl Cole, 23, Nicola Roberts, 20, Sarah Harding and Kimberley Walsh, both 24 - filmed the commercial in North London last month.

More so than their hair, it was their tiny waists attracted a great deal of attention.

Their cinched in waists reportedly measured as little as 18in with the help of corset-like elasticised belts.

Primped and pampered Cheryl Cole laps up the extra attention

As well as their promotional work, the group are currently touring, and have a new album and St Trinian's movie in the pipeline.

But the girls don't shy away from a busy schedule.

Sarah has said: "You gotta work hard, haven't you? So you're gonna get tired, but if you enjoy what you're doing, and you're entertaining, the fans are there to support you so you have an exhilarating time. It's all enjoyable, but it's just very tiring.

The girls enjoy acting up during filming

She added: "It's either full on or not on, so you can't really adapt or adjust to a routine. I would much rather work from lunchtime right through the evening, rather than morning till five. But then again, I'm a night owl. I can't wake up any more in the mornings."

The girls finish up their Greatest Hits Tour later this week.
