It's a good thing Madonna is working behind the camera on her latest movie project.

The pop star, who making her directorial debut with a 30-minute a low budget comedy called Filth and Wisdom, arrived on set looking a little worn and weary.

The 48-year-old is following in the footsteps of her director husband Guy Ritchie, who has a new gangster flick in the pipeline.

In a statement, Madonna talked about her new challenge: "I am happy to confirm I am working hard on a new project, directing my first short movie.

"While I cannot tell you more about it for now, I am happy to officially reveal its title, Filth and Wisdom. I hate to be such a tease, but you know how I am."

While the star wouldn't share any more details, there are rumours swirling that the film is loosely based on her own life.

The singer is scheduled to wrap filming in July, where she will return to work on her next album.

The record is set to feature a host of collaborations, including a track with pop sensation Justin Timberlake.
