Reese said she was thrilled to be giving something back
Reese, 31, has two children Ava, eight, and Deacon, four, with former husband Ryan Phillippe who she divorced in 2006.
Looking fresh faced and glamorous in a cream shift dress and high heels, she was unveiled as the face of Avon by the company's chairman and chief executive Andrea Jung.
"We are thrilled to welcome Reese as our global ambassador and believe she will give a strong voice to the company's commitment to empowering women," she said.
Reese, who won an Oscar for her role in Walk the Line, will also be honorary chairman of the Avon Foundation.
The charity's campaigns relate to breast cancer, domestic violence and emergency relief.
Reese, 31, is following in the footsteps of fellow actress Salma Hayek, who has also been the face of Avon in the past.
