Mel C confirms Spice Girls reunion

Mel C has finally agreed to a reunion

Melanie Chisholm, the only member of the girl band to voice her hesitation over a Spice Girls comeback, has now confirmed rumours she plans to perform with her ex-bandmates again as a 'final goodbye' to fans.

She told radio station BBC London 94.9: "For the first time ever, there is some truth in the rumours. We've been discussing it and it could possibly happen.

"I've always said, 'I don't want to do it, the past is the past. It was amazing, it was magical. We could never recreate it.'

"But this year people have been talking about it and some of the girls have expressed an interest in doing it.

"There is just so much great feeling out there and I just thought, you know what, I don't want to be the person that stops it happening or stops it being a five-piece."

Ex-bandmates Geri Halliwell, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham have all agreed to a reunion.

But Mel C insisted the group will not follow the example of Take That and get back together for good.

"I think it would be really dangerous to think you could just follow in their footsteps because I think that's unique, what has happened to Take That," she said.

"I think they've come out with a fantastic album. They are great lads. They really deserve their success.

"But there have been a lot of reunions and not all of them have worked. If the Spice Girls were to get back together it would be for a very short space of time. It would be a final goodbye and a thank you to all the fans all over the world."

The band are said to be planning six live shows around the world with gigs in London, Tokyo and Las Vegas, to support their Greatest Hits album due out at the end of the year.

They are likely to begin rehearsing for the shows after Baby Spice Emma Bunton gives birth to her first baby later this summer.
