Nip and tuck for Joely Richardson, or just a hint of airbrush?

Showing the strain: Joely last month

For a show based in a Hollywood plastic surgeon's clinic, it was perhaps inevitable that the producers couldn't see a pretty face without wanting to give it a little help.

But for Joely Richardson's publicity shots to promote the fifth season of Nip/Tuck it seems they went to town with the airbrush.

Gone was the £750,000-a-series star's gaunt look, attributed by some to the strain of filming in the U.S. while nursing her 15-year-old daughter Daisy, who has a rare circulatory condition, in Britain.

Indeed, the 42-year-old mother with the tired eyes seen at the Venice Film Festival last month has been replaced by a bronzed bombshell.

Airbrushing expert Chris Bickmore said: "Joely's hair has been made to look glossier and more golden.

"She has also had extensive retouching to her face and neck.

"She looks really well and freshfaced - at least 15 years younger."
