Now Amy Winegum is addicted to sweets

Amy Winehouse has spent thousands on turning a room in her Camden flat into a fairground sweet shop. The troubled singer has bought a pink candy floss maker, a £1,000 Slush Puppy machine and an old-fashioned sweet counter with jars of boiled sweets.

New addiction: Amy has a sweet tooth

Amy never does anything by halves, and it seems her latest addiction to sugary treats is no exception. Pals say she is becoming obsessed with sweets and are worried that her sugar binges are doing her health no good.

Slushed: Amy has bought a Slush Puppie machine

A source said: "Amy seems to be constantly stuffing herself with sugary snacks. She loves all of the stuff from her childhood in the Eighties, from Slush Puppies to Bull's Eyes and liquorice. It may seem harmless but it is not doing her any good.

"She's suffering from chest and lung infections at the moment and she has been warned that all of the sweets could flare up the problems. She used to walk to the local shops at all hours of the night to pick up her sweet fixes, but now she doesn't have to.

"All of her gadgets have been put in one room so she has all she needs whenever she wants it."

While pals point out that Amy might be harking back to her innocent childhood days, there is a more sinister side to the new obsession.

Heroin addicts often have low blood-sugar levels, leading to cravings for sweet things, and many users eat ice lollies or slushies to cool the burning sensation the killer drug can cause.

Amy has battled heroin and crack cocaine addiction for more than a year and is currently trying to work on material for her next album.
