On the rebound Britney lets too much hang out on Hilton bender

Not only her bra but her fashion sense appeared to have deserted Britney Spears once more as she stepped out in this eye-popping outfit together with her more modestly-dressed pal Paris Hilton.

The green skimpy frock bore a striking resemblance to a fig leaf and covered little more than the real thing.

Bystanders gawped as she threatened to spill out of the dress, which boasted a gaping neckline slashed to her waist.

Perhaps her newly-single status shortly after splitting from husband Kevin Federline meant she was keen to let her hair down.

Or she may have been anxious to show the world she has been unaffected by the break-up.

Either way the 24-year-old threatened to let more than her hair out as the pair tottered on heels into the celebrity hangout Hyde in Hollywood.

With their arms firmly interlocked, Miss Hilton, 26, appeared to be guiding and at one point, even holding up an increasingly dishevelled Miss Spears with a firm hand on her back.

As the evening wore on the princess of pop, who arrived with neatly coiffed locks tied back with a diamante-studded hairband, let loose straggly-looking hair extensions which have been woven into her new bob.

But as the hair came down, her revealing dress was in serious danger of doing so as well.

By the time the girls left and returned to Miss Hilton's car - with a distinctly tired and emotional-looking Miss Spears clutching onto a can of Red Bull, a packet of cigarettes and her mobile phone - the frock had almost given up the ghost altogether.

Either in a bizarre show of female solidarity - or to persuade her pal to cover up - Miss Hilton donated one of her fishnet stockings to her companion.

But it was too little too late as the patterned legwear did little to cover her modesty.

An onlooker said: "It was a shocking outfit. No one could take their eyes off it - for all the wrong reasons. It was more trailer trash than pop princess.

"She looked as if she would burst out of it at any moment and certainly wasn't wearing a bra with it.

"I am not even sure she managed to keep everything inside the dress all night. She certainly seems to be telling Kevin she is back on the market."

Since announcing the split earlier this month, twice-married Miss Spears has sported a series of increasingly revealing outfits.

Just hours after texting Mr Federline, 28, she appeared in a short grey dress with a plunging neckline which left little to the imagination.

The mother-of-two has become as notorious for the bizarre ensembles which replaced her schoolgirl image as she is for her chart-topping hits.

Three years ago she stepped out in a diamante bow-tie necklace and trilby teamed with garish leggings and a short black skirt.

She wore a milkmaid-style slashed dress and stiletto boots at the premiere of her film Crossroads while MTV crowds in New York were treated to the sight of her in a leather bondage-style get-up.

Miss Spears, who is thought to have secured her £65 million fortune with a pre-nuptial agreement, is now preparing to battle her estranged husband for custody of their sons, one-year-old Preston and 10-week-old James Jayden.
