Wilson's friends and family have been encouraging him to check into a treatment facility, but a source told American magazine In Touch: "[He] doesn't think he really has a problem."

The magazine reports he has hired a "sober companion" for £350-a-day to accompany the actor around the clock.

Meanwhile, his family are also said to be keeping his ex-girlfriend Kate Hudson away from the actor, however she has been in touch with his younger brother Luke.

A source told Us magazine: "The family doesn't want Owen to talk to Kate, because her friends are talking smack about him."

Still, says the source: "It's not about Kate - it's about Owen getting better."

Wilson spent a week at Cedars-Sinai hospital in LA, after he attempted suicide at his Santa Monica home on 26 August.
