P Diddy gets 10,000 pleas to be his new PA after MySpace ad

Hip-hop star P Diddy has been swamped with 10,000 pleas to be his new personal assistant - after advertising the job on the MySpace website. All the applicants have replied via video clips on YouTube in just four days.

Now P Diddy will ask fans to vote for their favourites after he interviews a select few online.

But the eventual job winner may not be so lucky - after he warned that as a boss he is prone to "scream, go crazy, keep you up late and have you sleep-deprived".

He added: "I'm the best and I like working with the best."

In the South of France recently, an aide was even expected to hold a parasol above Diddy's head to shield him from the sun as he escorted him on to a boat.

That said, Diddy, who is worth an estimated £157.5million, is the world's richest hip-hop star and recently performed at the Princess Diana memorial concert at Wembley.

In his online advert, he said: "It's a new age, new time and new era. Forget coming into the office to have a meeting with me and be nervous. Upload your video on YouTube."

Later, when he realised the scale of the response, he said: "Oh my God, what have I started? Earlier I put it out there to you the viewers, you the people that made me. A lot of people dream about getting into this industry and being somebody. Everybody needs a chance. Someone gave me a chance, that is what this whole thing is about, it's about empowerment.

"This is not a joke, I'm trying to give a chance to somebody who is out there to be my personal assistant to help me to be the best and maybe I can help them to be the best. That's what this thing is about, helping each other out.

"Things are getting a little crazy. Already over 10,000 people have enquired about the job, so to keep things a little focused you have to have some sort of skills set.

"You have to know how to read and you have to know how to write. If you want to be my personal assistant and travel with me to London and Milan and make sure I am right for the red carpet and help me to make that next billion dollar deal and help me when I am starring in a movie and jumping out of planes, you got to know how to count.

"You have to at least have a college degree and that is why, boys and girls, you must stay in school if you haven't got a college degree, then you can't be Diddy's assistant. But this is going to be a lot of fun. The internet is about the people and about us interacting.

"I am going to get the people to vote on who should be the finalists.

"What better way than for me, a guy who thinks about crazy things, to interview my assistant online."
