Rapper Sean Combs, better known as P Diddy, is being investigated over allegations he assaulted a man at a trendy New York nightspot, U.S. police said today.
Police confirmed Combs, 37, was a suspect in the assault at the Kiosk nightclub in the Soho area of Manhattan in the early hours of Saturday.
A lawyer for the singer and actor - who has also been known as Puff Daddy, Puffy and P Diddy - denied any wrongdoing by his client.

U.S. police have confirmed P Diddy, 37, is a suspect in the assault of a man at a New York club in the early hours of Saturday. Above, the singer partying with Sienna Miller earlier this year
The victim told police that he and Combs had been arguing over a woman before the hip-hop mogul punched him in the face, police said.
They said the victim reported Combs shouted, "I'll kill you!" during the assault, while one member of his entourage made a gesture toward his waistband as if ready to pull a gun.
They said the incident occurred at about 3.30am inside the club.
Unnamed police sources told The New York Post the victim was Steven Acevedo, 31.
The paper reported the pair were love rivals fighting over a woman who accompanied Combs to Cannes in France over the summer.
The alleged assault follows a series of incidents involving Combs and women.
Combs split with his long-term partner Kim Porter, who gave birth to twins by him earlier this year, following reports he made another woman pregnant at around the same time.
He was also associated with Jennifer Lopez when the pair became embroiled in a shooting in which three people were injured at a Manhattan nightclub.
Combs' friend Jamal 'Shyne' Barrow was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in the shooting.
