The hotel heiress' aunt, the half sister of Kathy Hilton, has completed five separate prison terms for offences including drugs and prostitution.
Elizabeth Avanzino, 35, who has been in and out of prison since the early 90s, has offered to counsel Hilton after her 23-day ordeal in order to prevent her from following in her footsteps.
Ms Avanzino, who has never met her niece, said she thought the socialite could be just as prone to developing an addiction.
She told Reveal magazine: "I don't want anything from them [the Hiltons].
"Paris does have a lot of issues and I just want them to come up just to talk. She makes mistakes, but I think this goes deeper. People need to know their roots.
"For Paris money, fame, and fortune can hide addiction. But addiction is addiction, whether it's alcohol or speeding. It runs in the blood, it really does."

The Reality TV star started her internment at a women's prison in Lynwood, California on Sunday night after speeding in her Bentley when banned for drink-driving - while her aunt was recently released from Rhode Island prison.
Her mother Kathy Hilton shares the same father with Ms Avanzino but married into the multi-million pound Hilton dynasty after meeting hotel owner Rick Hilton.
Miss Hilton looked tearful as she surrendered herself at a Los Angeles police station late on Sunday night.
She was placed in a 'special needs unit' and is banned from accessing either her mobile phones or BlackBerry.
