Peaches Geldof 'treated by paramedics after suspected overdose'

Peaches at the European premiere of The Dark Knight in Leicester Square yesterday - just two days after a suspected drugs overdose

Peaches Geldof is reported to have been treated by paramedics after collapsing following a suspected drugs overdose at her home.

The 19-year-old daughter of Sir Bob Geldof is believed to have been revived by a friend who reportedly gave her the kiss of life as they waited for the emergency services.

Her mother, TV presenter Paula Yates, died of an overdose in 2000.

The paramedics arrived at Miss Geldof's home in Islington, North London, on Sunday afternoon.

A spokesman for London ambulance service said: 'We were called on Sunday at 4.45pm to an address in N1 to reports of a female patient taken ill.

'We sent an ambulance bicycle responder and a fast response car, but following assessment the patient did not require hospital treatment.'

According to reports in the Sun newspaper, Miss Geldof could not breathe for several minutes and a friend had to give her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

After receiving treatment Peaches was said to be petrified that her 56-year-old father, the former Boomtown Rats singer, would find out after he publicly said he would go 'ballistic' if she ever turned to drugs.

She reportedly began to yell at the paramedics that treated her, shouting: 'You have to respect my privacy', before refusing to go to hospital and ordering them to leave.

The teenager will not face any charges over the incident.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: 'Police were called at about 4.45pm on Sunday by the London Ambulance Service to an address in Islington following a 19-year-old woman taken ill. When police arrived no offences were disclosed. No further police action will be taken.'

Earlier this year, Miss Geldof was spotted allegedly handing over money for drugs.

A video was taken as part of a police investigation into the supply of drugs to celebrities.

Miss Geldof is seen with £190 in cash saying: 'I'm going to need Valium tomorrow after this.'

She was not charged by police.

Miss Geldof is well known on the London celebrity party circuit - along with her younger sister Pixie, 17.

Last night, she had recovered enough to attend the London premiere of The Dark Knight, the latest Batman movie.

She denied reports that her father had put her under a curfew.

The 56-year-old Boomtown Rats singer and Live Aid organiser was said to have lost patience with his daughter's hectic social life and ordered her to move into his home in Battersea, South London.

But as Miss Geldof arrived in Leicester Square for the premiere she denied that was the case.

'I don't have a curfew and I never have,' she declared.

'I'm almost a 20-year-old woman and I can look after myself.

'My father doesn't shut me in my room and lock the door. 'He's not even that strict. He never has been.

'We have a happy medium between us. He doesn't have to check up on me all the time.'

Miss Geldof divides her time between TV presenting and singing.
