Pecs Factor: X Factor runner-up Rhydian has the muscles but not the tan to fit in with the beach hunks

With his bulging muscles, Rhydian Roberts clearly need have no worries about having sand kicked in his face.

But fellow Britons might be tempted to splash him with sunblock.

The natural redhead, who bleached his hair before he appeared on television's X Factor, displayed his pale torso on the beach in Mexico while on holiday with his family.

Striding along in his swim shorts, the 25-year-old might have a physique to match James Bond actor Daniel Craig but the skin colour clearly needs a little more work.

Bachelor Roberts looked even more pallid as he stood next to his extremely tanned aunt Maxine.

The opera-singing Welshman came runner-up to Scots rival Leon Jackson in the ITV talent show before Christmas, amid claims that telephone problems had deprived him of victory.

Since then, however, he has been given his own £1million recording contract with Simon Cowell's record company Sony BMG.

Roberts says he is teetotal and a devout Christian who does not believe in sex before marriage.

He is holidaying with his father Malcolm, 58, an electrical contractor, mother Angela, 56, a charity worker, plus an army of aunts, uncles and cousins. As a child in the Brecon Beacons, Roberts was self-conscious about his plump figure and curly ginger hair.

But after dying his hair blond and becoming a regular at the gym he soon became a star of his college cricket and rugby teams.

Sporty: Being on holiday is no excuse for ripped Rhydian to halt his exercise regime
