Pete Doherty ‘on verge of becoming bankrupt’

Pete Doherty is reported to be on the verge of bankruptcy because of careless spending and failed business ventures.

The singer's leaked accounts reveal his touring company actually lost £21,731 from his recent batch of gigs, while another company, Babyshambles Ltd, made a profit of just £1,910 despite his latest album Down In Albion selling more than 100,000 copies.

Doherty, 27, is believed to have earned millions from his Libertines' albums, Up The Bracket and The Libertines.

However his investments have not faired well with his well-documented drug difficulties adding to the poor state of his financial affairs.

The former Babyshambles frontman has received an advance for his next album from record label Parlophone after being dropped by Rough Trade.

Doherty's accounts for the period up to April last year indicate that it was his partner Kate Moss who paid for his rehab recovery in Priory and Arizona in his fight against heroin and crack addiction.

Moss, 33, who earns more than £10 million a year from her modelling contracts also owns the £5 million St John's Wood home the couple share.
