Pete Doherty's Cockney knees up with heroes Chas 'n' Dave

Pete Doherty fulfilled a life-long ambition when he shared the stage with boyhood heroes Chas & Dave.

The Babyshambles star, 27, played a warm-up set at their sold-out gig at Tap 'n Tin in Chatham, Kent, before joining the duo on stage for a rendition of their hit song Ain't No Pleasin' You.

Unlikely heroes: Chas 'n' Dave had hits with songs 'Ain't No Pleasin' You' and 'Rabbit' in the 80s

Fans flocked for an autograph from the singer, who willingly signed £10 notes, cigarette packets, hats and pieces of paper for 15 minutes during Chas & Dave's nostalgic set.

According to the Daily Star, after the performance Chas thanked Pete, while Pete said: "I was honoured to have shared a bill with Chas and Dave."

Former Libertines singer Pete used to cover Chas and Dave's hits, including Rabbit, with former bandmate Carl Barat, before their big breakthrough.

The singer, who has been battling drug addiction, apparently rocked through a number of Babyshambles and Libertines hits, before making way for his heroes to take over.

The troubled star recently completed a UK Arena tour with Babyshambles, supported by Dizzee Rascal, and the group has released their second single You Talk from their new album.
