Picture special: Sun Hell as The Bill cops deal with aftermath of bomb blasts in London terror attack

Sun Hill's brave bobbies face their toughest ­challenge when bombs rip through central London in an explosive three-part special of the long-running television drama.

In scenes which will be screened next week, The Bill's coppers are seen struggling to cope as the blasts leave scores dead and hundreds injured.

Pc Emma Keane, played by Melanie Gutteridge, 34, is left fighting for her life when she walks into a factory as another device explodes.

Bomb blast: Sally watches helplessly as Sgt. Callum Stone desperately tries to save Pc Emma Keane

Sam Callis, 32, who plays Sgt Callum Stone, told The Daily Star: "It was very emotional.

"But I do think it's the right time to show it. People will be able to relate to the story and the confusion caused by the explosions.

"I felt like crying at the end of filming, it was just so draining."

Character Stone discovers that a ­pervert is posing as a doctor to molest injured women.

As he goes off to tackle the sick criminal, he leaves Emma alone and she discovers another bomb in a nearby warehouse.

Sam added: "She manages to get people out but discovers there's three people left, when she heads back inside the bomb goes off."

Stone and fellow officer Sally Armstrong (Ali Bastian, 25) race into the building to find Emma ­covered in debris.

The storyline has been months in the planning and bosses of the ITV drama think the time is finally right to screen the scenes after the real 7/7 attacks on London in 2005.

Bill actors drew on real-life experiences from the Tube and bus bombings to make their scenes more realistic.

The dramatic scenes show the Sun Hill team desperately try to work out who is responsible.
