Police visit dampens Marc and Cerys's romantic retreat

It was supposed to be a romantic retreat, but so far Marc Bannerman and Cerys Matthews' getaway in Wales has been dampened by controversy - and a police visit.

The I'm A Celebrity lovers, who are staying at her parents' farmhouse just outside Trefin, Pembrokeshire, appeared to be keeping a low profile after a string of allegations made in Sunday newspapers.

Jungle lovers: the pair appeared to be keeping a low profile after new allegations surfaced in newspapers over the weekend

The former EastEnder's star, who split with actress Sarah Matravers in the wake of his jungle dalliance, is now facing tabloid claims he used cocaine and hired a prostitute during the two year relationship.

Investigation: police left Marc and Cerys' farmhouse retreat after questioning the actor over an incident with a photographer

The report is said to have left the mother of two, a recovering addict, "shocked and horrified."

The Daily Star report a source as saying: "Being clean and sober for her kids is the most important thing for Cerys and she can't risk getting caught up with drugs again.

"Her family have all told her to ditch him if the claims are true."

Meanwhile, police officers called into the farmhouse to question Marc over an alleged altercation with a photographer at the Ship Inn in Trefin.

Witnesses say Marc, who is reportedly shooting photos with Cerys as part of an exclusive glossy magazine deal, was upset at being followed by the paparazzo.

An onlooker said: "One of the snappers got a photo of Cerys and Marc in the pub and then he got back into his car.

"But then Marc and a male friend of theirs came out of the pub, opened the door to the photographer's car.

"Marc eventually got hold of one of his cameras and took it back into the pub with him. He then took the memory card out of the camera. Then the friend came back outside and gave the camera back without the memory card in it.

"Marc and Cerys obviously didn't want the photos of them getting out."

Dyfed Powys Police confirmed that they were investigating an incident.

Spokesmen for Marc and Cerys did not immediately return calls.
