Posh and Becks launch fragrance in latest move to win over US

Their efforts to conquer the US have so far faltered, but David and Victoria Beckham are not giving up yet.

The couple have just launched their his-and-hers fragrances, Intimately Beckham in a renewed attempt to win over the American market.

While her television show Victoria Beckham: Coming to America was a ratings flop and was savaged by critics, and crowds have booed the LA Galaxy star's lack of onfield action, they are hoping for more success with their latest venture.

Common scents: the couple have taken their fragrance to the American market

The scents, already available in the UK, were introduced last week in Beverly Hills, will be available at department stores next month and at pharmacies in January.

"Why is this different from any other celebrity fragrance? The fact that (I) have spent a lot of time checking all the details," Victoria Beckham told Women's Wear Daily.

"We are not just saying, 'We are celebrities, put our name on it.' I love to be involved with the whole process."

Industry sources estimate the Beckham fragrance franchise, which also includes Instinct by David Beckham, will generate $US100 million in worldwide sales this year and twice that next year, according to Women's Wear Daily.

Brand Beckham: the couple have launched their his and hers fragrances

Victoria Beckham, who describes herself as "a working mum," is also continueing development on her signature line of clothing and sunglasses.

She will appear with the Spice Girls during the group's reunion tour in December and January.

The Beckhams said they are adjusting to American life.

David Beckham took to the baseball field to throw the first pitch in Toronto yesterday

"We are starting to say trunk instead of boot, trash instead of rubbish," Victoria Beckham said.

Added David, who yesterday attended a baseball match between the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees: "We are starting to get it, slowly."
