Posh wins libel case over claims she was 'picky, demanding and rude'

Victoria Beckham has accepted substantial undisclosed libel damages over a claim that the crew of her US TV show considered her "picky, demanding and rude".

The former Spice Girl was not at London's High Court for the settlement of her action over an article in Star Magazine.

Her solicitor, Gerrard Tyrrell, told Mr Justice Eady that the allegations in the story this April were "untrue and unfounded".

He said that it stated that she was "proving hugely unpopular in the US - and now even the crew from her TV show there have revealed they can't stand her".

They quoted a "source" saying she had been "picky, demanding and rude" and mean to assistants on set.

The magazine also alleged than when her husband called, she shouted orders at him like a child.

Mr Tyrrell said that the magazine did not contact Ms Beckham or her representative before publication.

In fact, when the article was published, filming had not yet commenced on the new TV show and, accordingly, no one on the crew could possibly have commented on her alleged behaviour.

"The story was therefore completely inaccurate and defamatory of Ms Beckham," Mr Tyrrell said.

He said that publisher Northern and Shell plc now accepted that the allegations were false and should never have been published.

It apologised, unequivocally retracted them and had agreed to pay her a substantial sum in damages and her legal costs. Kate Wilson, the magazine's counsel, apologised for the distress and embarrassment caused.

Meanwhile, friends of Victoria Beckham have revealed they are really worried she will make herself ill with exhaustion - because she is trying to cram too much into her life.

The mum-of-three has been organising the family move from Spain to America while also travelling back and forth to the UK in between.

Now her pals feel she will crack if she does not take some time out for herself.

Family friend Louis Malloy said: "Victoria is really exhausted at the moment. She is very run down because she's been travelling between Spain, the UK and Los Angeles organising the move.

Speaking to a magazine he added: "David is really worried about her. She's had the whole thing to do on her own.

"Moving house is stressful for anyone, but imagine what it is like when you're the Beckhams - it's a big deal."
