Princess Bea the style queen...she can't get it from Mum!

Her mother may have been responsible for more fashion faux pas than she cares to remember over the years, but that isn't stopping Princess Beatrice trying to establish herself as a style icon.

The 19-year-old daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York is planning to set up her own clothing line and has already started sketching some designs for her first collection.

Beatrice came up with the idea to launch her own designer label just months ago when she hatched the plan with a girlfriend.

"It was Beatrice's idea," says a friend. "She has always loved clothes and has an innate sense of style. She has said she is going to start up her own line of clothing and plans to call it Bobcat.

"She's creating the label with one of her girlfriends. She has lots of ideas for her first collection although she hasn't made a garment yet."

Although the Duchess of York registers on the fashion barometer for all the wrong reasons, her flame-haired daughter is said to have genuine fashion flair.

Her mother caused a stir in the Nineties when she stepped out in an orange puffball wrap and black strapless dress - but Beatrice is adamant she won't make the same mistakes.

"She is quite reserved with what she wears," adds the source. "But she has a sophisticated sense of style and a knack of knowing how to accessorise her clothes. She's always up to speed with the latest trends."

Having recently confirmed she wants to be the first Royal in space, it is evident she aims to be a trendsetter. She has just made a decision about her immediate future.

Initially, the young Royal, who has dyslexia, was not planning to attend university, but after successful A-level results she is now set to go.

The friend says: "But the idea for her to launch her own label is still on. She plans to do her fashion line on the side."

Let's hope Bea passes on some fashion tips to her mother!
