Queen joins Vogue's glamour top 50

The Queen has been named alongside Kate Moss and rocker's daughter Daisy Lowe as one of the world's most glamorous women.

The monarch has been given a nod of approval by style bible Vogue. The magazine praises the Queen Elizabeth for the way she carries off the brogues and headscarf-look at Balmoral.

Models in the top 50 include Claudia Schiffer, Sophie Dahl, Naomi Campbell, Topshop designer Moss and former indie-star singer Pearl Lowe's daughter Daisy.

Actresses include Dame Helen Mirren, Vanessa Redgrave, Pride and Prejudice star Rosamund Pike (alongside her fiance, director Joe Wright), and Charlotte Rampling.

The magazine writes of the Queen: "She is as glamorous in her brogues and headscarf in Balmoral as she is wearing the crown jewels."
Vogue magazine compiled its top 50 Definitive List of Today's Glamorous Women for its December "glamour" issue, saying: "Glamour is about how you wear something, not about what you wear.

"You can't buy glamour, and you can't fake it. But unlike beauty, it's not something you are born with, though it comes more naturally to some than others."

Other names to win a place on the list include White Teeth author Zadie Smith, architect Zaha Hadid, artist Sam Taylor-Wood, and Jimmy Choo founder Tamara Mellon.

Vogue writes of Dame Helen, 62, who won an Oscar for her role as the Queen this year, that she is "radiant as a lightbulb, sexy and talented... she dresses perfectly, too."

Of London-born socialite Jemima Khan, 33, it says: "She speaks Urdu, has a conscience and acts on it. She looks like a princess but is saucily good company."

It describes supermodel-turned-author Dahl, 30, as "BFG - beautiful, fairy-tale-writing glamourpuss" and writes of Campbell, 37, who was ordered to clean toilets for throwing a mobile phone at her maid: "Glamour at any price - even if it means doing community service in Alaia".
Of the Queen, the magazine writes that even model of the moment Agyness Deyn "says she's cool".
