Razorlight lose a roadie at 70mph on motorway

Music festivals just wouldn't be the same without bands turning up late (or, in Oasis's case, not at all). Crowds are used to being kept waiting these days, and the excuses are sometimes a little anti-climactic — I have a cold; we got lost backstage etc.

Just made it: Razorlight's Johnny Borrell on stage

So London Eye gives this year's award to Razorlight for the mother of all excuses. Frontman Johnny Borrell revealed that he nearly missed his performance at V Festival after one of their sound technicians fell out of their tour bus on the motorway.

The band was scheduled to play on Saturday night on the V stage.

Johnny, 29, told Absolute radio: "I didn't personally have a drama but in Razorlight, well we did have a big drama, because one of our roadies, you know, he got dead p***ed, and he was on the bus, and he sort of fell out the door of the bus when it was moving along at sort of 70 miles an hour.

"I think maybe when he got on the bus, it wasn't moving and he was already p***ed, and sort of thought, all right I'll get up and go and take a p*** around the corner or something."

The technician, who has simply been identified as Frank, was taken to hospital, where he is said to be doing well. While not on the bus at the time of the incident, Johnny said those who were on the bus were left distraught, as they witnessed Frank having to be rolled off the motorway to avoid oncoming traffic.
