Rod Stewart 's bizarre 'Elephant Man' look

Singer Rod Stewart took inspiration from a strange source for his latest look. His hat and scarf ensemble was strangely reminiscent of Joseph Merrick better known as the Elephant Man.
Merrick was a 19th-century Englishman who suffered severe disfigurement from an incurable disease - hence the cruel nickname. Actor John Hurt shot to fame in the 1980 biographical film of Joseph's (called John in the film) life.
It seemed a odd sartorial move for the Scottish singer who once asked 'Do ya think I'm sexy', as he appeared wrapped up and hidden from prying eyes.

But maybe the truth of the matter is simply that Rod just couldn't bear the heat in the French Riviera as he drove around in his Ferrari while on holiday with third wife Penny Lancaster.
Once he parked the car, Rod ditched the scarf as the couple took a stroll around the town, and looked slightly better presented in his turquoise shirt, tartan-style shorts with matching plimsolls.
