Obsessed : Sarah Bartholomew
Sarah Bartholomew, 29, reportedly requested a mock "marriage" ceremony at the psychiatric ward where she has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
Threat: one letter warned David Walliams he would die
The former veterinary nurse, from Clacton-on-Sea in Essex, held a " reception" in her room for other residents and raised a toast with a soft drink.
She is being cared for at Kneesworth House Hospital, near Royston in Hertfordshire, following a four-year harassment campaign.
Ward nurses helped her fill out deed poll papers and post the £33 fee to change her surname.
Ms Bartholomew now introduces herself as Mrs Walliams. It is claimed staff thought they would face legal action if they stopped the ceremony. Police fear her spell in Kneesworth, which specialisesin helping women considereda low to medium risk, has done little to help her.
Last year, a court heard how she barraged Walliams, 37, with sexually explicit letters and spent thousands of pounds travelling to see the Little Britain show starring Walliams and Matt Lucas.
In one poem, she wrote: "You can have me how you want." The comedian's solicitor asked her to stop but she refused. She wrote in another letter: "I have to have you at any cost. I will kill or abduct you, to stop you seeing anyone else."
Ms Bartholomew also mailed underwear, cuddly toys, chocolates and DVDs to Walliams. On one occasion she was forcibly removed from a TV studio.
Ms Bartholomew's obsession apparently began after she met the comedian in 2004. After she admitted stalking him between October 2007 and February 2008 a district judge at Highbury Corner magistrates' court sectioned her indefinitely.
Walliams was unavailable for comment.
