Miss Crow, who has just completed a two-week Stop Global Warming tour across the U.S. in a bio-diesel bus, unveiled her grand plan to save the environment earlier this week.

She called earlier this week for toilet users to restrict themselves to "one square per visit - except, of course, on those pesky occasions when two or three are required".

But today she was labelled a hypocrite when a rider for her music tours was revealed - with four pages of demands including 13 fuel-guzzling vehicles for her entourage of 30.

Environmental campaigners inundated the Internet mocking her stance after the revelation.

One said: "That is some carbon footprint."

Another commented: "I have a little maths question for you. You have a carbon footprint that is 20 times larger than mine. How many squares of toilet paper will you have to save to reduce your footprint to mine?"

Miss Crow's diva-like demands include her requirement for specific alcoholic drinks according to what day of the week it is.

Thursdays equate to a bottle of "good quality" champagne, Fridays and Sundays mean a bottle of tequila and on Saturdays, she expects a bottle of vodka.

The extraordinary demands include special coffee mugs, dozens of bottled beers and soft drinks, eight pairs of cotton socks, chocolate bars and six postcards "of local interest" with stamps.

The outrage over her rider - coupled with widespread mockery of her environmental suggestions - have threatened to overshadow the eco-tour.

It erupted when she said: "I propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting.

"Now, I don't want to rob any law-abiding American of his or her God-given rights but I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit - except, of course, on those pesky occasions where two to three could be required."

She also criticised paper napkins for being "the height of wastefulness" and suggested a detachable sleeve as an alternative to wipe mouths on.

Miss Crow added on her website: "This idea could also translate quite well to those suffering with an annoying head cold."

Her mockery spread to popular TV chat shows in the U.S.

Chat show host Jay Leno joked: "I'm not going to be shaking hands anymore" while outsized comedian Rosie O'Donnell said: "Have you seen my backside?"

The singer later claimed her comments were a joke. A spokeswoman said the rider was a decade old.
