Singer Amy reveals she's a toothless wonder

She's known for having a big mouth, and a fantastic singing voice, and no one could ever excuse singer Amy Winehouse of being a toothless wonder - until now.

The 23-year-old singer's grin, as she partied with fiance Blake Fielder-Civil in a New York hotel, revealed a huge gap where one of her sparkling white teeth should be.

The chart-topping singer of song Rehab, whose album Back to Black burst into the US Billboard charts at No7 is notorious for her hard-drinking rock and roll lifestyle earning her the nickname Amy 'Wino'.

Following the break-up of her relationship with ex-boyfriend Alex Jones-Donnelly, she was often seen stumbling out on the town with drinking pal Kelly Osbourne, daughter of rocker Ozzy. And it was rumoured the dental misshap resulted from one of her frequent drunken episodes.

But in an interview with Mtv.com, Amy explained the truth is rather more pedestrian. She said: "My tooth got knocked out, that's true,".

"I bit down on an ice cube and felt it come loose. I was sitting with my boyfriend and told him he had to pull it out because it was going to come out at some point and would be horrible and bloody.

"He wouldn't pull it out, so I had to do it myself.

Amy seems in no hurry to have the tooth repaired, preferring instead to hang out with fiance Fielder-Civil, and new pal Kate Moss at the New York launch party for her clothing line.

Although standing next to the world famous supermodel, she stopped short of flashing a cheesy grin.

And Amy's lack of tooth has had no affect on her increasing success in the US.

In September she begins a fully-fledged North American tour, and due to demand to see the singer who counts actor Danny Devito and rappers Jay-Z and Nas as fans, the tour has been bumped up from several-hundred-seat venues to ones that hold nearly 2,000, according to her spokesperson.

Amy will also appear at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards on June 3 alongside Jay-Z and a host of stars.
