The singer beamed with delight as she arrived at Santiago Airport in Chile to be met by 39-year-old Alexander Dahm.

Witnesses said he cuddled her and stroked her hair before whisking her off to the beach resort of Vina Del Mar.

All of which will come as something of a surprise to his wife, Laura, who is only weeks away from giving birth to their second child at their home in Mexico City.

Dahm, son of a Chilean opera singer, apparently met 38-year-old Miss Minogue in January on a film shoot in Acapulco, where she was modelling bikinis for her H&M swimwear range.

They are said to have kept in regular contact since, culminating in her flying 7,000 miles from London for last week's reunion.

Mrs Dahm said her husband had told her that it was a 'coincidence' that Miss Minogue was in Chile at the same time as him.

She told the Sunday Mirror: "Alexander and Kylie have struck up a friendship. But it's ridiculous to think there is some sort of affair going on. There isn't, they're only friends and I'm not worried."

Mrs Dahm said her husband had been phoning her daily but she could not get in touch with him. He told her his mobile phone charger did not work on the different voltage in Chile.

"His mobile has been off for two days." she said. However, when the paper contacted Dahm - on his mobile - he said: "It's my private life - it's none of your business."

After supporting Miss Minogue during her battle with breast cancer-French actor Olivier Martinez ended the relationship in February and immediately became an item with Israeli actress Sarai Givaty.

Martinez's relationship with 24-year-old Miss Givaty had come to light weeks earlier when she spent the night with him in Los Angeles at the Chateau Marmont hotel, where he was staying during film promotion.

Miss Minogue confronted Martinez, 41, about the incident during a 'make or break' holiday in Mexico.

It was announced shortly afterwards that their four-year relationship was over. Martinez is now said to have split with Miss Givaty after reports that Angelina Jolie performeda lap dance for him at a New York club.

However he does not seem too downcast, being pictured over the weekend on the arm of the Spanish actress Goya Toledo.
