Sophie Anderton: Stalker ordeal changed my life

Model Sophie Anderton said she has had to reshape her life after she was targeted by a stalker in an "intimidating" text message campaign.

Anderton said she has taken "a good look at what was going on in my life" and told GMTV she has now become "much more private".

Paul Davis, 59, was given an 18-month conditional discharge after being found guilty of harassment last month. He was also banned from contacting her.

Anderton said she now no longer receives her own post and her phone is in a different name to prevent any further risk of stalking.

She told presenter Lorraine Kelly: "He can't find me because I've moved to the country and I live in the middle of nowhere.

"I'm very happy living in the country and it's great for me personally.

"But I don't have any of my post - it goes to my management's office. My phone is not in my name and that's something which I've had to make a choice - I don't want to risk this happening again."

She continued: "I really had to take a good look at what was going on in my life and had to really pull back. And in one respect it was good for me because it's made me realise that I want to be much more private."

She said she was getting texts and phone calls from Davis from 7.30am until around 1.30am each day.

"I was getting very scared - obviously, I didn't know what he looked like," Anderton said.

She had to stop taking public transport and avoid restaurants and events.

"I found it very intimidating, very intrusive," Anderton said of her ordeal.

She told GMTV how she was actually reporting the matter at a police station when Davis - who has bipolar disorder - contacted her again.

"It was a female police officer, PC Wilson, and she was incredible. She was on the phone and she was like, 'OK, you really do have a case because the guy is completely mentally unstable'," Anderton added.
