Stop it dad, you're embarrassing us: Becks brings his bashful boys on stage at Teen Choice Awards

David and Victoria Beckham's three boys are used to life under the media glare, but it appeared they were rather reluctant to step into the spotlight last night.

As dad David picked up the Choice Male Athlete gong at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles, he brought his sons Brooklyn, nine; Romeo, five; and Cruz, three; on stage with him.

As the Los Angeles Galaxy player, 33, thanked his fans for his surfboard trophy, the young trio stood shyly on stage.

Dressed in matching yellow shirts and jeans with shorn haircuts and golden tans, the boys looked like younger versions of their famous father.

The Beckhams' youngest son Cruz looked particularly shy, so dad David gave him a reassuring pat on the head.

But Cruz's stage fright didn't last too long - David persuaded him to step forward and show off the breakdancing moves he first displayed to the world during the Spice Girls tour in Toronto in February.

In February, Cruz wowed the crowd by showing off his breakdance moves, taught to him by Geri Halliwell's dancer boyfriend Ivan Velez.

After being persuaded to break dance again for the Los Angeles crowd, Cruz attracted a round of cheers from the screaming audience at the Gibson Amphitheater.

But the biggest cheer came from mum Victoria, who was sat in the front row wearing a thigh-skimming red mini-dress.

Despite her son's performance and husband's award win, Victoria appeared stony-faced when approached by photographers.

The star-studded event was hosted by Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus, who won Choice TV Show Comedy, Choice TV Actress Comedy and Choice Music Female Artist.

Winners: Host Miley Cyrus (L) took home three gongs, while Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere (R) won a Best Actress gong.

The big winner of the night was teen TV drama Gossip Girl, which took home six trophies, including Choice TV Show Drama.

BBC2 show Heroes picked up two accolades, including Choice TV Actress Action Adventure for Hayden Panettiere, who plays cheerleader Claire.

Newlywed Mariah Carey, who married rapper/actor Nick Cannon in April after a whirlwind romance, stole the show as she performed in thigh-skimming yellow shorts and a blue cropped top.

Pink ladies: Scarlett Johansson opted for a peach gown to match her complexion, while Fergie chose a multi-coloured pink and red maxi dress
