Take That star in hospital with collapsed lung after stage plunge

Take That star Howard Donald is in hospital in Vienna with a collapsed lung after an on stage manoeuvre went horribly wrong.

Howard, 39, was attempting the splits during a show Milan, Italy, on Wednesday when the accident happened.

He bravely continued the show, despite being in immense pain, but when the band arrived in Vienna he was taken straight to hospital where he was diagnosed with the painful lung injury.

Just the three of them: Take That perform last night without Howard

A statement on the band's behalf said that he had sustained the injury while performing during the band's tour of Europe.

A spokeswoman for the band could not give any more information about the seriousness of the injury or how exactly it happened.

While show will go on without Howard, at his request, it's understood he could be out of action for at least two weeks.

The band said in the statement: "Our friend's health is of the utmost priority and we wish him a speedy recovery, we'll make sure tonight's show is still a fantastic experience for the fans."

In pain: Howard continued on despite his 'splitting' pain

Howard, who is recovering at a hospital in Vienna, thanked Take That fans and vowed to be back on stage as soon as doctors allowed him.

He said: "I'm really disappointed and upset that this has happened, as I've never had to miss a show before, it's unbelievably frustrating being sat in a hospital when I should be on-stage with the guys."
