TV channels will have to broadcast on-screen "tickers" showing viewers' chances of getting through to quiz lines under strict rules issued today.
A "prominent and permanently visible" display must show the number of calls from viewers in the preceding 15 minutes, to be updated no less than every ten minutes.

Richard and Judy: TV channels will have to broadcast on-screen 'tickers' showing viewers' chances of getting through to quiz lines to ensure there's no repeat of the Richard and Judy phone scam scandal
The guidelines, drawn up by premium phone lines regulator Icstis, govern how all TV quizzes and phone-ins must now be run.
They will come into effect next month and are aimed at repairing viewers' trust following a raft of scandals that has engulfed all the main channels.
The new measures will also give viewers clearer information about the cost of each call.
Icstis chief executive George Kidd said: "We believe these new measures, which are designed to address the concerns that have been raised recently, will go a long way to restoring consumer trust in this form of TV quiz."
It comes after allegations that Channel 4's Richard & Judy show and BBC1's Saturday Kitchen, and other programmes, duped the public into calling premium rate phone lines with little or no chance of getting through.
